文致和主教及其同伴殉难名单|The List of Bishop Schraven and His Companions of Martyrs

 

　　一九三七年十月九日，正定城沦陷，侵华日军烧杀奸掠，逾万民众躲入天主教正定教区主教府暨主教座堂避难。遣使会会士文致和主教及其八位同伴为保护中国妇孺免遭日军污辱侵害，遭日军绑缚，宁死不屈，当晚被残杀焚尸于天宁寺凌霄塔下。

　　九位国际友人为义殉难，必获上苍福报，并永为世人铭记。

The List of Bishop Schraven and His Companions of Martyrs

As Zhengding City fell on October 9, 1937, and invading Japanese soldiers carried out various atrocities, more than 10,000 citizens sought refuge by fleeing into the Catholic Bishop’s Residence and Cathedral. Japanese soldiers captured Vincentian Bishop Frans Schraven and eight of his companions as they tried to protect the Chinese women and children against sexual exploitation. For refusing to yield, the nine were killed and burned at the foot of Lingxiao Pagoda of Tianning Temple that very night.

The death of those nine international friends for the sake of justice will surely be richly blessed by God and remembered by people forever.
